The smooth paper surface is crucial in providing high-definition images on both hard and soft substrates, and batch testing to assure color constancy. The purpose of this paper was to keep Sawgrass inks on the surface without getting too wet and smearing from saturation.
The best dye sublimation paper for making ceramic blanks like mugs and other items is called TruePix Classic. In contrast to higher-release papers, which typically start off wet and can take some time to dry, TruePix is a fast-drying sublimation paper and is nearly totally dry to the touch by the time it prints. This prevents smearing on ceramic surfaces and eliminates the need for paper drying time.
Additionally, on coated ceramic surfaces, TruePix paper releases precisely the proper amount of dye for the accessible surface area. For use on surfaces that are hard, such as metal, wood, plastic, and polyester. For best results, fabrics must be made entirely of polyester.
